Memoirs of a Lost Soul!!

It was 9 p.m. I was making rotiyaan in the kitchen.. the same way you had taught me back when I was in grade 6th. How could I ever forget that. Kneaded the dough in that very way, and started making the rotiyaan. But Karachi's hot weather and taway ki aag doesn't make the kitchen exactly cool, and hence a drop of sweat trickled down my forhead, moving to my eyelashes, and standing there at the edge, like dew on the edges of a leaf.

I unknowingly looked to my left with a smile just to find the grey tiled kitchen staring blankly and coldly at me. I had expected you to be there watching me do the stuff, but how could you be there when you were so far far way, in a place where I hadn't even set foot in. You'd say, 'oh, garmi lag rahi hai na!!' and try to take the rolling pin from me, but I didn't give in so easily. The sweat drop finally dropped mingling with the tear drops. As for me, I was left in the past.

You!! who never left me alone. You!! who never even left me alone while I did my own work, you were always there. You!! who shared all your activites with me. You!! who shared your thoughts with me. You!! with whom I talked like a chatter box, telling each and every detail of anything just to YOU. How could you leave me alone?

Why, and just why is all that I ask, but I guess I'll never know the answer, coz you can't give me the reply, and even if you would, I have turned blind and deaf..I can't see you, I can't hear you, except in dreams!!

Remember the time when I'd never eat anything at breakfast without you.. You insisted me to eat for my good health, but you never cared so much so about yourself. And when I made it a point that I won't eat without you, you also had it, just for me..yes, for me.. And remember when I said that I'd leave this place fisrt, you stopped em from saying further, you said it can't happen, and you wished it not to happen that way, rather vice versa to happen, and your wish was granted..

On the path on life, Our loved ones just slip away one by one, and we are left only with their memories, unsaid words and unasked questions.

very well narrated story.

That was really good. Is it based on a personal experience or fiction? Well, you don't need to answer if it's personal. Most fiction has a bit of truth in it anyway! :) You should write stories more often! I still need to get started on that novel that I say I will always write lol

Jamash: thanks..Yeah, there is lots of unsaid stuff left..as always..

Sarah: Personal experience.
Even I believe no fiction can be written w/o atleast some truth grasped from the surroundings.

I am waiting for your novel, hoping to get a signed copy.. :)

Its hot outside.. 34 degrees.. but I'm shivering.. In the past 11 years, not a night had passed when you werent thought about. Not one. Some nights though are harder than others. Sometimes I think deeper than I usually do and its then that it dawns upon me I am so friendless, you were my best friend. You still are, just not around me. Tonight I wish I could have a cup of tea with you Mom... with a baked samosa, or a mustard sauce n beef sandwich. Maybe we could go for a chaat, I drive now, we wouldnt have needed to go walking, not even in a rickshaw. Maybe we could sit in the garden once more, just maybe. We could have bought just one more book Mom.. I shunned books when you left, because you were my driving force behind them  After quite a few years, when I touched a book, I realised that you are more around.. I found my love for books again. Because you made me love books. I wish I could tell you about all the new books I have read..they are all thrillers eheheh but I gu...
