Reflecting Eyes!!

It was long after the Maghrib Azaan roared through out the city. I raised my hands for a prayer, a prayer for people I love. I closed my eyes for a second and then reopened, reopened them just to see a familiar pair of eyes staring back at me..hidden somewhat by the morning newspaper that I kept on the side table. Your eyes keep staring like that always..sometimes they seem empty, sometimes vibrant. I am still unable to figure out how eyes speak, and how I read them. But.. they reminded me of the time when I was in the mosque, as the crowd stood up, I could see them, a pair of eyes staring at me, concerned, eyes so like mine.. and as I blinked they were gone, I peeked, pried, tried to find them again, but to no avail. Though I saw them just for a few seconds, I could see the striking resmeblence b/w ur eyes, and those.. were they your eyes, or was it you??? but how could it be you?? and if it wasn't you, how could the eyes be yours? I now think perhaps I saw my reflection, maybe ...

The Crayon Kit!!

If there was one thing in the world Sheeza loved doing it was drawing beautiful and creative pictures, and then filling it with crayons - crayons Mumma brought for her 10 years ago. Oh yes, 10 years ago. You'd be wondering how did those crayoins last for 10 years. Well, they didn't last for 10 years, but even more. Sheeza was in sixth grade. Perhaps at that time oil pastels were a rage in schools. Everyone used to own different styles of kits. It was all about competing who had the best of 'em oil pastels. Mumma knew Sheeza loved arts, but where they lived, stationery shops were very much a rarity. 10 years ago, Karachi was a lot more uncommercial!! But one fine evening, when Sheeza and her Mumma wen tto the other side of the town, Mumma left for the mall and got Sheeza the best kit of oil pastels and the fact that it came as a surprise made it all the more exciting. The box made of peachish pink plastic accomodated about 36 pastels. Usually such kits had about either 12, 1...

Karachi Goes Kool!!

Hmm.Karachi finally gets its share of the awesome monsoon rains.. hehe.. it has been drizzling on and off since quite a few days but the real showers came yesterday, and as I blog they continue heavily.. And the best thing is that on sunday afternoon my cousins the thirteen year old twinnies came over to spend the day.. :) so we had the best time yesterday in the rain, playing lots of carom, yes, age old tradition, then later after dinner we went out for a stroll as the downpour stopped, but as we were returning, lo n behold it started raining again.. and they are stayin here, so we'll inshaAllah enjoy even more.. since its still raining !!!!! :D the only sad thing is that the cats feel bad they hate water, Mano was hiding in the lawn, and Mayna has gone off sumwhere, obv., without telling, came last night, but this morning she again went out.. Just bloggin this so that will have a good memoir later.. :D EDIT: It rained so much so that at some places powers out, I still have power ...

Tail of a Cat!!

*Dedicated to Mayna!!* When we shifted to our new house some three years ago, a cat used to lurk there.. And since she was snow white with pea green eyes.. we started caling her Mano, she is really a bit arrogant type, she knows she's pretty and all.. Anywho, in less than a year she gave birth to triplets.. 2 were exactly alike, pure white, one had green eyes, the othe had one green and one blue eye.. :) And the third kid was black and white.. Those three lil loonies were so cute, they used to sleep on the window sill, one on top of the other.. Then as they grew big, Mano left them.. We named the kitten with both green eyes "Mayna", the one with a blue and green eye "Shrewd" and the black and white bubloo kitten as "Bhaloo". Bhaloo had greenish grey eyes outlined black as if kajol is applied.. I reckon Bhaloo took after her dad.. ;) And such nice siblings they were that one day when Bhaloo while sitting on the wall fell into the neighbours wall acciden...
